Components:  Often referred to as a weed, plantain is actually one of the best healing herbs on the planet. Indigenous to Eurasia, it is now found in most parts of the world, with particular prominence in the United States.

Overview:  Plantain has a long history of use by many cultures in multiple parts of the world. Known for its ability to treat skin woes, the plant’s juice is antibacterial and very soothing. It contains allantoin, an anti-inflammatory phytochemical that speeds wound healing, stimulates the growth of new skin cells, and boosts the immune system. Some research has confirmed plantain’s use in relieving bronchitis, sore throat, and respiratory disturbances.

Uses:  The dried leaf may be used in teas, tinctures, creams, and salves.
