A daily ritual to calm, refocus, and heal.

We can all admit that our world is feeling a bit out of control right now. It seems that things are changing every day and nothing feels very stable. We could talk in circles about our situation , but what can we do to ground ourselves right now? At Lone Star Botanicals we believe in the power of intention on our mental and physical health. Here are three of many reasons to have a daily tea time.

1. Intention

Setting aside a time each day to stop rushing is very grounding. Boiling the water, choosing the tea, letting it steep, sipping and truly enjoying the moment. This gives us time to refocus and reset our day. It is so easy to want to crowd our minds with social media or turning on a show, instead of getting still and present with our thoughts. “Making tea is a ritual that stops the world from falling in on you.” -Jonathan Stroud. Sometimes it is the smallest things that can give us peace. And we know that our mental health is directly tied to our physical health too! Taking time from our busy/uncertain lives to do something very concrete like making a cup of tea can be incredibly healing for our minds and bodies.

2. Health

Speaking of healing. Not only is the act of making tea important, but the actual tea can be healing as well. Herbal teas have been used medicinally for hundreds of years and in many different cultures. There are many herbs that can be used in teas to support your body and potentially help heal different ailments. Lets take two of our teas for example. Our Be Well tea is full of multiple herbs to support our immune systems like echinacea, nettle and elderberry. Maybe you are just focused on calming your mind and body, our Be Still tea has chamomile, passionflower, and ashwagandha. We also have many herbs available for you to study and create your own unique tea blends.

3. Connection

Lastly, having a daily tea time can be a time of connection. It is a time to stop and really engage with the people that we surround ourselves with. Maybe your partner or your roommate. It is a moment in your day to show gratitude for what you have been given. We know that people who live in community with others are happier and healthier. Take some time daily to connect with those people who you care deeply about. If you can’t be together in person right now, call or video chat. Consider this a good time to write a letter or create something to gift someone. A note about children and tea time. I am a mother of two young children. My days can easily get chaotic and overwhelming. When I take the time to sit down and have a cup of tea with them, it can change the entire mood of our day. That moment of stopping and sitting together can make all the difference. Check out our Bambini Tea for a safe, caffeine free, delicious herbal tea.

I hope this has inspired you to create a daily tea time ritual. If you do, please let us know by commenting on our Instagram or Facebook pages. We would love to hear what teas and herbs you have been using!
