Botanical Name: Thymus vulgaris
Components: A member of the mint family, this herb’s name comes from the Greek word thumus, which means courage. Thyme is a small perennial shrub indigenous to the Mediterranean.
Overview: This herb is excellent at supporting the immune, respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems. Thyme contains some of nature’s strongest antimicrobials, making it a serious weapon against sore throats. As a culinary herb, it complements most vegetables and is one of the ingredients in the blend known as herbes de Provence.
Uses: Dried thyme leaf may be used in teas and tinctures. It is sometimes used in bath products and toothpaste.
